ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said in its weather report that a bout of cold and dry weather continued in Islamabad on Sunday, with the mercury dropping to -1°C Celsius.
With a gloomy morning, the capital city is anticipated to remain under the heavy cold wave on Monday (tomorrow).
The Met Office claimed that the minimum temperature in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which had been zero degrees Celsius for the previous two days, has plunged to -1 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature of the season.
Northern Balochistan, as well as most of the country’s northern and central regions, had bitterly cold weather, with fog and pollution blanketing the Punjab plains.
Punjab has been heavily damaged by air pollution, particularly in Lahore, which has remained at the top of the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
Despite a slew of administrative efforts taken by the authorities to combat pollution, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Multan, and a slew of other Punjab cities are experiencing poor air quality this winter.
In the morning, much of Punjab’s plain areas were blanketed in fog, limiting visibility. Due to restricted visibility caused by foggy weather in the morning, M-2 from Lahore to Shekhupura and M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot were closed.
