In Pakistan, The Legend of Maula Jatt has opened to full, albeit small, cinemas. The audience has responded favourably to the movie, which has been able to draw a sizable number of viewers to theatres. But only specific theaters—the Atrium and Cue cinemas in Karachi and Lahore, respectively—are showing the movie.

Fans have been wondering why the eagerly anticipated movie hasn’t been shown at Nueplex, the busiest movie theatre in the city. The latter’s owners have now clarified the situation.

The statement, which was posted on Nueplex’s Twitter account, said, , “As a cornerstone of our film exhibition strategy, Nueplex Cinemas has always been at the forefront when it comes to screening Pakistani films.” “Due to the industry we have created for local films, a number of box office records have also been set throughout the years.”

The statement further read, “We feel that it is highly unfortunate that the distributor of the title, The Legend of Maula Jatt asking for exhibition terms which are out of industry norms. Such rigid terms cannot be afforded by exhibitors, especially during times of economic instability.”

Nueplex further shared, “We were hoping for a fairer approach in the future, as we are always here to welcome and screen any Pakistani film with open arms.”
