The tea houses, waiting rooms, and platforms of many railway stations have been famous as the sitting places of writers and poets. But the platform of India’s Sasaram Railway Junction has become a place to build the future of the youth.
Hundreds of young people come to the two platforms of this station every day for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening to prepare for competitive central, provincial, and bank exams and entrance tests for higher professional education institutions. This series has been going on for nineteen to twenty years.
It started with the fact that there is no electricity in the villages of this area of Rohtas district of Bihar or it keeps coming and going but it stays at the railway station for 24 hours, so some students started coming to benefit from this light.
Then it happened that the students started helping each other, passing the exams or other senior youths started coming here for coaching and it became a study group. Thus, it became a well-known center.
A platform ticket is required to go to the railway platform, otherwise, it is considered a ticketless passenger. But the railway authorities have exempted them from platform tickets to encourage these youngsters.
But to identify that they are students, ID cards have been issued to some 500 students. Many of them spend the whole day here, and some even go to the platform to study.
Countless poor youths who are prepared here have secured higher jobs or admissions in higher professional institutes.
The government needs to take action to support these kids who are driven by success and make it easier for them to accomplish their objectives.
