Traffic resumes as fog lifts its veil on motorways

The plains of Punjab were enveloped in dense fog early Saturday morning, but when the fog lifted, the administration reopened motorways for commuters, according to the local news media.

However, the fog hampered aircraft operations at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, which forced the cancellation of 15 flights and the postponement of nine others.

According to reports, the M2 highway was reopened once visibility improved. The administration also opened the M3, M4, and M5 highways between Multan and Lahore to traffic.

Following a loss in visibility, the administration closed motorways from Faizabad to Sumandari and M11 from Lahore to Sialkot.

The M5 was covered in fog from Jalalpur to Pirwala in the morning, but when the fog lifted, all portions of the highway were reopened to traffic.

All optimism that Lahore’s air quality will improve anytime soon has faded, as the Punjab city remains at the top of the world’s most polluted cities, with an AQI of 241.

The city’s weather will stay cold and dry, according to the meteorological prediction. There will be no rain, and the wind will be blowing at 4 km/hr.

In Bahawalpur, Multan, and Gujranwala, smog reigns supreme. Citizens are suffering from various diseases of the throat, eyes, and skin as a result of increased levels of hazardous particles in the air.
