Speaking Truth to Oppressed

The Development of Civil and Political Rights

Civil and Political Rights are part of Human Rights, so first we understand what are Human Rights. Human rights are the basic rights that are inserted in every country’s Constitution. Human Rights are equal for everyone no race, sex, religion, education so forth and so on. These are given to all Human Beings because Human needs standard care of living in his/her life so whatever he/she wants they can do.

Civil and Political Rights, are those rights for politicians and Civil members of a society (the general public). Everyone who is living in a country needs Civil and Political Rights, because if you want to govern a country then you need political rights while if you make your country strong then you should give civil rights such as the “Right to life (article 3)” is the big example of civil rights because every citizen has the right to life. Another example of “Right to self-determination article 7 (self-evidence)” is a political right that every politician has to the right to self-determination. Now we can observe that Civil and Political rights are important rights, however, civil and political rights are older because at that time every developing country needs these rights.

Moreover, these rights are well developed in Europe, mostly in western countries while it is less developed in Asian countries the reason for the socio-economic rights also people are less civilized and less aware of their rights in their (Such as in Pakistan) while in the western side they know their rights very well.

Furthermore in Human Rights, the economic, socio, and cultural (these are called second generations rights) are also the rights for human beings. These rights are also important for every country, however, it is another discussion that some countries developed the economic, socio, and cultural rights more (mainly Europe). For example, if a person is unemployed then in there is socioeconomic right is preserved. The person is to be paid until it’s doesn’t get a job. While some countries (mainly Asia) do not have the socio, economic and cultural rights very well such as in Pakistan if a person is unemployed then their socioeconomic rights are not preserved. The person who does not be paid will be starved of hunger, which is bad for the country because the crime rate is getting higher. In a Capitalist society, it is hard for lower middle-class people to survive because in the capital class Karl Marx said “poor became poorer and rich became richer”. While in the communist way government controls the factory products but again it’s hard to survive because there are no such socio-economic rights.

So the development of civil and political rights with the socio, economic and cultural rights are more developed more in the western side while in Asia the development of civil and political, socio, economic and cultural rights are not so developed. However cultural rights are different in different countries, while people know that civil and political rights are older rights now they are trying to secure future rights such as the socio, economic and cultural rights that are important for next future generations, they may be more developed in the future.
