UN COP-27 announces PM Shehbaz as vice-president

The 27th United Nations Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP-27) has announced that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will get his vice-presidency. Pakistan received this global award from the 195 members of the United Nations. The presidency of COP-27 returns to Egypt.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has also invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to co-chair the COP-27 meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Norwegian Prime Minister and the Egyptian President will co-chair the roundtable. The COP-27 meeting will begin on the 6th of next month in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and will bring together world leaders, heads of government and representatives of think tanks and international financial institutions.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been entrusted with the vice presidency to be an effective voice on climate change.

In the wake of the recent floods, the Prime Minister vigorously raised the issue of climate change at the SCO summit and the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Uzbekistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit popularly known as SCO. This was the first-in person SCO summit in two years after the virtual conferences of 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In June 2017, Pakistan along with India gained the permanent membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in its 16th Heads of State Summit in Astana. Pakistan’s inclusion in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is optimistically.
