TikTok, the world’s leading short-form video platform, has released its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q2 2022 — April-June 2022 — demonstrating its commitment to a multi-pronged approach to combating misinformation on the platform.

The report reflects the platform’s ongoing commitment to earning trust through accountability while striving to be safe and welcoming. According to a statement released in this regard, the latest iteration of the report shows improvements in countering misinformation and efforts made in the investment in digital literacy education to help get ahead of the problem at scale.

In the second quarter of 2022, 113,809,300 videos were removed globally, accounting for about 1% of all TikTok videos. Pakistan ranked second in the world for the most videos removed for violating community guidelines in Q2 2022, with 15,351,388 videos removed for violating community guidelines.

Nearly 97% of those videos were removed within 24 hours of being posted, 98% before a user reported them, and 97% before they received any views.

In addition to removing accounts for violating community guidelines, the platform also removed spam accounts and the spam videos they posted.

It also took proactive steps to prevent spam accounts from being created automatically. TikTok has identified 33 new misinformation claims since the previous quarter, resulting in the removal of 58,000 videos from the platform globally.

The total volume of ads removed for violating advertising policies and guidelines decreased in the second quarter of 2022. This is due, in part, to efforts to strengthen account-level detection and enforcement strategies, which have contributed to the improvement of the ad ecosystem and the creation of better experiences for both users and advertisers.

TikTok is introducing a new penalty system that will accrue a strike if someone violates one of its community guidelines.

The platform will keep track of the number of strikes accumulated, and the person will be permanently banned if they continue to post violent content. The number of strikes required to receive a permanent ban is determined by the severity of the violation and the total number of violations.

Refer to the community guidelines, which are also available in Urdu, to learn more about TikTok’s content guidelines, tools, and policies.
