Ayatollah Khamenei states that “I state it clearly that the recent riots and unrest in Iran were engineered by the US and the occupying, false Zionist regime [Israel], as well as their paid agent.”

Women have been continuously protesting in Tehran. Women removed their hijab alongside men chanting about the death of the dictator. The death of Mahsa Amini has become a symbol of resistance for so many women against the forced hijab alongside religious dictatorship.

Women continue to protest in Tehran after death of Mahsa Amini. Amini was arrested for not wearing the hijab properly and was allegedly brutally beaten. Amini’s death sparked similar protests in Tehran and other cities. Iran has a mandatory hijab law which states that women must always wear the hijab in public.

Protestors in Amini’s motorcade demanded that this law be abolished. The police then shot at the demonstrators and arrested several people. Iranian police denied that Mahsa Amini was beaten, claiming instead that she suffered a heart attack. However, the government shut down the internet in several cities to quell the protests.
