Tourist flights to Europe continuous amidst autumn
Airline executives say demand for flights to Europe from the US remained resilient through the fall, well beyond the traditional peak for travel to the region, as travelers eager to make up for lost time and airlines seek income after more than two years to increase after corona pandemic.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my life in terms of falling demand,” Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances at United Airlines said.
It’s a welcome change for airlines looking to generate revenue after travel restrictions and Covid-19 concerns undermined demand for many European travel in 2020 and 2021. Profitable segments of business travel are returned slower than leisure trips, making these trips even more important.
“I think there is no doubt that people’s appetite for going to Europe has grown,” said Kyle Potter, editor-in-chief of Thrifty Traveler, a travel and flight website. “A lot of the really bad flight prices have led people to postpone those kinds of trips they put off for years.”
“They really saw $ 900 gross, $ 1,200 in airfare in July and August, and maybe they saw a deal to get there for half the price,” Potter said this fall.

Additionally, a strong US dollar makes autumn trips to Europe more attractive, lowering the cost of anything from shopping in Milan to fine dining in Paris or London for many US travelers.
