FIA arrests ASI for handing over sensitive document to foreign envoy

According to the local news media, the Federal Investigation Agency’s counter-terrorism wing arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Islamabad police on Wednesday for handing crucial national documents to a foreign diplomat.

The arrest of their officer has been confirmed by the Islamabad police.

A case has been filed against the ASI under the provisions of the Official Secrets Act of 1923, according to a representative for the federal capital police.

According to the FIR, the ASI sat in a car with a foreign diplomat’s agent from Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, and drove to an unknown location before returning.

When the policeman was apprehended, the FIA discovered an envelope containing Rs50,000 in currency notes, ATM cards, and a USB drive in his hands, according to the spokesperson.

The FIA informed the Islamabad police about the arrest of their officer and assured them of a fair inquiry, he said. He concluded that the federal capital police had also committed to cooperate fully in the probe.
