Iran to deal decisively against widespread unrest in state

The Iranian president has vowed to take action against protesters after more than a week of anti-government demonstrations. President Ebrahim Raisi pledged to “deal decisively” with the protests, which have now spread to most of Iran’s 31 provinces.

Officials say about 35 people have been killed since protests broke out over the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.

Ms. Amini had been detained for allegedly violating the headscarf rules. Officers reportedly hit her head with a baton and slammed her head into one of their vehicles. Police said there was no evidence of ill-treatment and she was suffering from “sudden heart failure”.

And while Mr. Raisi says her death is under investigation, its interior minister, Ahmad Vahidi, insisted Ms. Amini had not been beaten. “Reports have been received from regulators, witnesses have been interviewed, videos have been reviewed, forensic reports have been obtained and it has been determined that there were no hits,” he said.

Videos circulating on social media have captured violent unrest in dozens of cities across the country in recent days, with some security forces firing what appears to be live ammunition at protesters in the northwestern towns of Piranshahr, Mahabad, and Urmia.

Fresh clashes were reported in several cities, including the capital Tehran on Saturday. The demonstrators spread to prevent you from gathering in a place. New images have also appeared on social media showing demonstrators those petrol bombs oscillate to security forces.

In the meantime, the reforming group has invited the union of the People’s Party of Iran Islamic to introduce the mandatory clothing code and to be authorized “peaceful events”.
