The suspect will appear in court today. Islamabad Police had said yesterday (Friday, September 23, 2022) that the investigation into the murder of famous journalist Ayaz Amir’s daughter-in-law, Sara, by her husband Shahnawaz was ongoing and details would be shared with the media as soon as they are known.

The force spokesman said forensic experts collected evidence from the scene of the crime, while the autopsy of Sara’s body was also carried out at the Poly Clinic hospital in the federal capital, confirming a violent blow to the head. However, hospital sources said the autopsy was unable to determine the cause of death, so the doctors decided to conduct forensic testing of her body.

According to sources, Sara and Shah Nawaz argued Friday morning. And when the police reached the couple’s home, they found Shah Nawaz there, the sources said, contrary to the general impression that the suspect was perfectly normal and not drunk.

A police spokesperson told the media that Shah Nawaz married Sara, a Canadian citizen, just three months ago.

Earlier in the morning, Ayaz Amir’s son mercilessly killed his 37-year-old wife by repeatedly hitting her head with a dumbbell in the Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad. Police rushed to the scene of the crime after receiving information and began their investigation.
