Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister of Education, stated on Tuesday that educational establishments will be closed from December 25 to January 4.
Shafqat announced the news on his Twitter account. The NCOC had previously stated that it would make a final decision on the winter vacations since it wanted to close the institutes for 15 days while the provinces preferred 10 days.
Shafqat wrote on Twitter: “Federal and provincial secretaries met today. The agreed proposal was that the winter holidays should be from Dec 25 to Jan 4. Further notifications will be from the concerned governments.”
It means that Friday, December 24th, 2021 will be the last day of school for students who have spent the majority of their days at home due to the closure of educational institutes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the educational institutes will reopen.
