An accountability court in Islamabad has cleared the way for prominent PML-N leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar‘s return to Pakistan by suspending his permanent arrest orders.
Judge Muhammad Bashir on Friday ruled that PML-N leader Ishaq Dar not be detained upon his return to the country and postponed his permanent arrest warrants issued by the NAB until October 7.
The judge stated that once the former finance minister enters the country, the court will consider canceling the arrest warrants.
On Thursday, Ishaq Dar’s lawyer informed the court that his client was ready to surrender. Dar’s lawyer, Qazi Misbah, asked the court to instruct the National Accountability Court (NAB) to drop the warrants because his client, who was living in London at the time, was willing to surrender.
“I respectfully beg that the former finance minister not be detained upon his arrival in Pakistan,” he said.
