PCB hires Faisal Hasnain as CEO.

Faisal Hasnain has been named as the next chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In January 2022, he will formally take over as president.

Shortly after publishing a statement announcing Hasnain’s appointment, the PCB congratulated him on Twitter.

According to the PCB, the 62-year-old has spent over 35 years in high-profile finance and sports administration roles with some of the world’s leading blue-chip organizations, including serving as the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) chief financial officer and managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) in Monaco and Dubai.

Hasnain’s nomination as the PCB’s chief executive was confirmed by PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja, who welcomed him to the Pakistan cricket family.

“Faisal is a well-known personality in the cricketing world, and he is well-known, respected, and trusted for his corporate governance, financial management, and commercial acumen. Faisal will be a fantastic match for the PCB’s plans since he can use his enormous expertise and knowledge to assist us in reaching our commercial and financial goals of growing and strengthening Pakistan cricket,” Raja expressed his thoughts.

Faisal thanked the PCB chairman and the Board of Governors for believing in him and said he is humbled and grateful to have been given this “once-in-a-lifetime chance to serve Pakistan cricket”.

“I am fully committed to achieving the PCB chairman’s vision for Pakistan cricket, as well as meeting the expectations and dreams of millions of ardent Pakistan cricket fans, strengthening existing commercial partnerships, the ICC, and other cricket boards, and forging new partnerships as we move forward.

“These are exciting times in Pakistan cricket, and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues at the PCB to further strengthen the image, reputation, and profile of this wonderful institution as a whole,” Faisal added.

Portfolio

Faisal managed a $3 billion financial portfolio while working as the ICC’s chief financial officer, according to PCB, and was also engaged in the sale of the ICC’s commercial rights for the 2007-2015 and 2016-2023 commercial cycles.

He was instrumental in the refinancing of Zimbabwe Cricket’s commercial debts, reaching financial agreements with the International Cricket Council (ICC), securing ZC’s funding and status within the ICC, and securing hosting rights for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018—Zimbabwe’s first global event in 15 years.
