England vs. Pakistan: A young journalist from England loves Karachi
Young cricket writer Matt Roller, who is now in Karachi with several other English journalists, thinks Karachi is a great city.
England’s cricket squad visited Karachi earlier this week for the first time in 17 years to play a short-format cricket away series against Pakistan. The series will be played in Lahore and Karachi.
The historic seven-match T20I series will be played in Karachi and will begin on September 20. In Lahore, the series will come to an end on October 2.
The CMJ Young Cricket Journalist of the Year 2021 recipient Matt Roller is employed at ESPNcricinfo as an assistant editor. On Saturday, he engaged in an intriguing conversation with Geo Super in a Twitter room.
Roller discussed his feelings about visiting Karachi for the first time while interacting with cricket enthusiasts.
“It’s wonderful to be in Karachi. I’m traveling for the first time, and so far I’m having fun ” in response to a cricket fan’s query, he remarked.
“I haven’t got much time to see the city yet. I observed several stunning old structures as well as heavy traffic and a bustling metropolis.”

“The young guest expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming cricket match at the National Stadium. I’m incredibly excited to play competitive cricket in Karachi because it would be my first time there,” he remarked.
“We’ve been to the Pakistani restaurant a couple of evenings, so yeah, eating different stuff like Parathas and Paneer,” said Roller in reference to his enjoyment of the desi cuisine.
“We have a very thriving South Asian cuisine culture back home. Particularly in London, there are a large number of South Asians. So certainly, some familiar dishes and some new ones as well,” he continued.
The English guests will stay in Karachi’s harbor city till September 25. They will travel to Lahore later to play the final three T20Is.
