Ahsan Iqbal orders to set up cargo shuttle service

Ahsan Iqbal directed the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives (PD&SI) to establish a public cargo service between Lahore and Karachi.

Public road transport is rare in Pakistan, giving a huge advantage to private transport and paving the way for the bulk of traffic on roads in the major cities of Pakistan. Realizing this problem, he issued this order.

Both subways are used by businessmen and citizens, and therefore both require logistics services. After launch, cargo shuttles will meet the transportation needs of these groups who frequently travels for business related activities from city to city.

Ahsan Iqbal also issued the directive at the 66th meeting of the National Logistics Board (NLB) on Friday. He said, “Society friendly ferry transport is the need of the day and should be started.” Director General, Director General (DG) National Logistics Cells (NLC), Secretary Ministry of PD and SI and other team members were also present in this meeting.

DG National Logistics Cells also gave an explanation of the company’s activities, administrative and business affairs with special emphasis on the company’s achievements and future development plans.

In addition, the council learned that the service plans to increase its fleet to 900 vehicles. The company plans to add another 200 trucks to the fleet in the 2022-2023 fiscal year, bringing the total fleet to 1,100. Iqbal recognized the importance of NLC in logistics operations across Pakistan and hoped that the service would expand to improve its services.

As Cargo, also known as freight, is the transportation of goods or produce from one location to another by water, air, or land. The term “cargo” originally referred to goods being loaded onto a vessel. Cargo is now used to describe all types of goods, including those transported by rail, van, truck, or intermodal container.

With the increasing population of country, setting up a cargo shuttle service would be appropriate for the people of Pakistan.
