“Don’t get too carried away” says Shashi Tharoor on Indian economic boost

Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP, warns India not to get too overwhelmed by the fact that India had become the 5th largest economy in the world, leaving the UK behind.

Yes, the country should be pleased and give a pat on the shoulders but temporarily. It is so because if one looks deep into the fact checks, the Indian population is 20 times bigger than that of the UK. Hence the GDP per capita remains much lower.

The congress MP went on Twitter to give a reality check. He wrote: “India produces 854.7 Billion GDP per year & it has to cater 1,582,311,759,132…population. Now UK produces $816 Billion GDP but for the population of 68, 655, 180.”

The difference is clear so the emphasis on producing even more GDP to cater to this big of a population still remains true.

It is pertinent to mention that this sure is a piece of big & optimistic news for India and its future. On this note, India’s former chief economic advisor, Dr. Arvind Virmani, released a statement saying that India is now will become the 3rd biggest economy in the world, leaving the US & China behind by the end of 2030.

India at the moment stands fifth behind the US, China, Japan & Germany.
