Pak Vs WI: Karachi police prepares comprehensive security plan

Karachi police have done their homework and devised a detailed security strategy ahead of the West India-Pakistan home series, which begins on December 13.

On December 9, the West Indian cricket squad arrived in Karachi. Before the tourists depart on December 23, they will play three T20Is and an equal number of ODIs at the National Stadium in Karachi.

A conference was held Thursday at the Sindh Boys Scouts Auditorium, presided by by Additional Inspector General Imran Yaqoob Minhas, to assess the security situation and prepare for it.

Maqsood Ahmed, DIG Security and Emergency Services Division, presented a briefing on the tour’s tight security precautions.

During the matches at National Stadium, routes, practise grounds, parking areas, hotels, and other areas, a total of 46 DSPs, including 13 senior officers of the Karachi police, 315 NGOs, 3,822 constables and head constables, 50 women police personnel, 500 members of the Rapid Response Force, and 889 commandos of the Special Security Unit will perform security duties alongside the Karachi traffic police.

For the teams’ safety, Special Branch men in plainclothes would be stationed at the National Stadium in Karachi and the hotels. In the event of an emergency, a Special Weapons and Tactics squad would be ready to respond.
