Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had his interim release allowed by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Thursday.

Imran Khan went before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad and requested pre-arrest release in relation to a case involving threats made against female judges and police officials.

In his plea, the former premier claimed that the police had filed an anti-terrorism case against him as retaliation, and he demanded that the court grant his request for pre-arrest release.

The Islamabad police officers and a female judge were threatened by Imran Khan during a public protest, and as a result, an anti-terrorism charge was filed against him at the Margalla police station in Islamabad.

The hearing was presided over by ATC Judge Raja Jawad, who granted Imran Khan temporary release until September 1. The PTI leader was required by the court to provide a $100,000 surety bond.

In the meantime, a sizable group of PTI employees gathered outside the ATC and yelled anti-government and pro-Imran Khan chants.

With almost 400 soldiers deployed, the Judicial Complex has been completely secured both inside and beyond its walls. No extraneous individual is permitted entry into the Judicial Complex, and all access roads going there have been shut down.

It should be noted that Imran Khan’s protective bail, issued by the Islamabad High Court, has expired today (IHC).

The IHC had awarded Imran Khan transit remand in the case, requiring him to appear before the trial court within three days. This needs mentioning here as well.
