The playback singer was considered one of the Indian subcontinent’s popular film songs playback singers and a stage performer.

Nayyara Noor was born on November 3, 1950, in Guwahati, Assam, northeastern India, where she spent her youth. Her family and forefathers were merchants who settled in Assam after emigrating from Amritsar, Punjab. Her father was a member of the All India Muslim League and welcomed Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, during a visit to Assam prior to the country’s division in 1947.

As a child, Nayyara is reported to have been inspired by Kanan Devi and Kamla’s bhajans, as well as Begum Akhtar’s ghazals and thumris.

Although Nayyara had no official musical training or schooling, Asrar Ahmad of the Lahore Islamic Institute taught her after hearing her sing for her friends and professors at the annual banquet at the Lahore National Academy of Arts in 1968 Find. She was soon requested to perform on the university’s Pakistani radio show.

Nayyara made her public singing debut in Pakistani TV plays in 1971, and she later appeared in films such as Gharana (1973) and Tansen. She has since performed ghazals by prominent poets such as Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, as well as with giants such as Mehdi Hassan and Ahmed Rushdi.
