The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences’ Team Ascensor is a seasoned group of bright students who have already brought honour to their country by winning positions in Teknofest 2021 and 2022.
The biggest technology competition in Turkey, TEKNOFEST 2022, is sponsored by the T3 Foundation and well-known Turkish businesses and organisations.
Over 200,000 graduates and students from all over the world attend this event, which draws a varied demographic.
In the international UAV fixed wing category of Teknofest 2022, which had 180 teams from 84 countries, the Pakistani team Ascensor took home the bronze prize overall this year.
To participate in Teknofest’21, the crew built its first UAV, the Ascensor Mark-I, last year.
The aircraft successfully completed every mission, earning it a berth among the competing foreign teams.
With Ascensor Mark-II, the team made a triumphant return to the major stage this year. Both the pilots and the onlookers were stunned by the Mark II’s amazing flight capabilities, sleek design, vertical and horizontal 360s, and flashing speed.
The crew had a visit from Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mustafa Varank, who praised the design of the aircraft.
The team also had a meeting with Mr. Hasan Mandal, the president of Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK), and they had a constructive discussion about a range of technical and non-technical topics.
