Urwa Hocane denounces online hate against ‘transgender’ activist

Urwa Hocane’s viral video fuels pregnancy rumours

Urwa Hocane, an actress, speaks out in support of Mehrub Moiz and recorded her protest against the discussions of gender identity and rights. “Mehrub Moiz I am deeply saddened and disappointed, In fact, I am at a loss for words on how sorry I am for what you had to go through,” Urwa wrote in the caption.

Although they are the only ones who need fundamental lessons in humanity, the people around us are educating others on who you are and what your rights should be. I probably cannot even begin to imagine how you deal with such inhuman and insensitive individuals.

These “ignorant, heartless people have not even a clue about how you get to be truly you in this cruel world,” according to Udaari actress.

Following remarks by fashion designer Maria B that Mehrub is not transgender by birth, this has happened. According to a story that Maria B posted, Mehrub Moiz Awan is not a member of the transgender community and is actually a “man” who is transitioning into a woman. She claimed that the activist was openly supporting the LGBTQ community on social media, and that kind of influence is not what we as a country want for ourselves and our children.

The trans activist claimed on Instagram that a talk she was supposed to give at an event had been postponed.

“A no-hold-barred candid tete-a-tete with @sherkanmalik around what transpired today, my opinions on censorship, and the plainly absurd transphobia that is being spread by the educated bourgeoisie these days.  As visibility increases, so does violence. And the hegemonic always uses moral policing to gatekeep alternative voices and opinions. It’s happened before; it’ll happen again. That’s the cycle of struggle for redistribution of power,” wrote Mehrub.
