On Wednesday, people commemorated the German doctor Ruth Pfau’s fifth death anniversary.
Ruth Pfau spent her entire life working to eradicate leprosy in Pakistan.
She was a Catholic nun in the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary who was German-Pakistani and a medical doctor.
In 1961, she relocated to Pakistan from Germany.
For her contributions to Pakistan, she received the Nishan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam, Hilal-i-Pakistan, and Hilal-i-Imtiaz awards.
On this day in Karachi, Dr. Pfau, known as the Mother Teresa of Pakistan, passed away.
