An estimated $149 million worth of bogies imported from Pakistan’s friendly neighbour will be examined by 93 officers and employees of the department in various groups beginning on August 9th. This comes as Pakistan Railways (PR) continues to operate with a deficit of over Rs45 billion (roughly $4 billion).
In addition to those who will be retiring next year, officials will get a daily travel allowance of $100. Abdul Haseeb, the Chief Mechanical Engineer Carriages, said that the officials visiting China will assist in the design of the passenger bogies.
In addition, he said that the bogies will be designed with passengers’ comfort in mind. In addition, Haseeb said that workers will be trained in the maintenance of Chinese bogies.
Engineering expertise from China will be given to Pakistan as well, according to the engineer.
