Suicide is suspected in the death of a 30-year-old Indian-origin woman from New York who accused her husband and in-laws of domestic abuse. “They compelled me to die,” Mandeep Kaur, a victim known only as “I” in the film, stated in her sorrowful narration.

At first, the Bijnor maternal relatives of Mandeep had sought to intercede. He allegedly kidnapped and abused his wife, Mandeep claimed. A police report was then filed by her father. Mandeep stated that her husband approached her after a police report was filed and asked for her assistance in rescinding the complaint.
The lawsuit was withdrawn by Mandeep, who claimed that: “I tried to preserve the marriage, but my in-laws didn’t let it happen.
Her last recorded words were these: “They’ll be answerable to God and the Karma will handle them,” according to reports. They’ve forced my hand, and I’m going to die now. I’m compelled to abandon my children and the rest of the planet.”
The “Kaur movement” has been sparked by the suicide of the Indian-born woman, which has drawn the attention of many Internet users. Her two daughters, ages four and six, are the last remaining members of Kaur’s family.
Kuldeep Kaur, Mandeep’s sister, stated that the domestic abuse began shortly after the couple came to New York.

The spouse and her in-laws have been the subject of a police report filed at the Najibabad Police Station in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
Inquiries are being conducted by the New York City Police Department. Efforts are being made to return the body of Mandeep Kaur to India.
