Students can enroll in eight foreign and national language courses at the Government College University Lahore, including French, German, Chinese, and Turkish.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi stated that in European countries, students often take a gap year and spend the entire year engaging in a mixture of language lessons and cultural courses to improve their life skills, but in Pakistan, students who received a gap year due to supplementary examinations or other reasons were unable to engage in productive activities, owing to a lack of opportunities.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the Language Communication Skills Courses were specifically intended to focus on polishing students’ communicative capacity with an emphasis on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. He went on to say that these classes would be taught through a combination of lectures, group discussions, intensive writing tasks, simulations, audio-visual aids, and student presentations.
Prof. Zaidi stated that lectures will be held in the evenings so that ordinary university students and professionals from many disciplines may attend. The Vice-Chancellor stated that the fee for these three-month language courses was maintained low, ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000 per language course, in order to help as many students as possible.
The last date to apply in the language is August 10, 2022, while the classes would commence immediately after the 14 August vacation.
