Sherry Rehman, Federal Minister of Climate Change, stated on Thursday that rather than protesting the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision in the PTI’s banned fundraising case, Imran Khan should quit as party chairman.
In a tweet, she remarked that it was strange that Imran, who was known for lecturing others on morals, was requesting the resignation of the chief election commissioner (CEC) rather than himself. “The truth is that the primary objective of the PTI’s protest is to keep its ‘narrative’ appealing to the populace,” she concluded.
Sherry asked the PTI chairman and other party leaders to refrain from what she said telling lies to the nation. “Despite the fact that Imran has been denying from the very inception that his party has received ‘prohibited’ funding, the ECP report, on the other hand, reveals that the PTI has concealed 13 of its bank accounts and prohibited funding it received from foreign donors,” she added.
The minister went on to say that Imran, who was “truthful and honest,” had filed a fraudulent affidavit. “How terrible that the PTI has taken illegal cash in the name of charity,” she remarked.
Sherry recalled a prime minister who had been barred from holding any public office for life for lying about facts. “In this case, the contrary is true because it has been proven that the PTI received billions of dollars in illicit money, disguised 13 of its bank accounts, and produced a fake affidavit,” she continued.
