KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a new travel advisory for Category-C countries on Monday, following the discovery of new COVID variant Omicron cases in several other countries.
According to a notification, the CAA has added eight more countries to the Category ‘C’ list. Croatia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Ireland, Slovenia, Vietnam, Poland, South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Namibia are among the Cat C countries.
Passengers from category-c countries would need to obtain permission from the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC). “They would be required to provide evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination,” the CAA stated.
A negative PCR test report obtained 72 hours prior to travel will be required. Furthermore, testing and quarantine rules will apply to passengers upon arrival in Pakistan, according to the travel advisory.
The decision came after the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) imposed a total ban on inbound travel from Category C countries on Monday.
The country’s top platform in charge of Covid response reviewed the current Covid situation around the world and revised the policy for air travel categorisation and the Cat C list.
According to the NCOC, inbound travel from Cat C countries will be completely prohibited, and essential travel from these countries will require an exemption certificate from the government’s exemption committee along with a set of health protocols.
