The NA-133 Lahore by-election results have been dubbed a “rebirth” of the Pakistan People’s Party in Punjab by former President Asif Ali Zardari.
Zardari called former premier and PPP Central Punjab President Raja Pervez Ashraf and congratulated him for receiving a large number of votes in the by-elections, according to The Asian Mirror.
Zardari told the PPP Central Punjab leader that the Lahore by-elections have proven to be a turning point for the party since it has given birth to a new generation in the by-poll, which will bring change to the province.
It is important to note that while the PPP candidate lost the NA-133 by-election, she did receive 32,313 votes for second place. The candidate of the Nawaz League received 46,811 votes in NA-133.
