Lanka Premier League 2021: Sri Lanka beefs up security for Pakistani players

Following the terrible murder of a Sri Lankan national in Sialkot, Pakistan, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has decided to beef up security for Pakistani players and coaches competing in Sri Lanka’s franchise T20 cricket tournament, the Lanka Premier League 2021.

The competition features nine Pakistani cricketers, including Mohammad Hafeez, Muhammad Umar, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, and Sohaib Maqsood, as well as various coaching personnel.

The event is being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital, and Hambantota, the country’s second-largest city. The league stage matches will all be held at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, with the playoff games being held at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.

The LPL 2021 officially began today (December 5, 2021) in Colombo with a match between Galle Gladiators and Jaffna Kings. The event will come to a close in December.
