Shops to remain close after 9 pm again

The administration in Lahore has imposed a 9 p.m. closure on the second day of Eidul Azha on Monday.

The wholesale market, retail stores, bakeries, general stores, shopping malls, private offices, and warehouses will close at 9 p.m., according to the administration.

Hotels, tandoors, clubs, theatres, cinemas, cafes, and circuses have been instructed to close at 11:30 p.m.

Medical stores, hospitals, laboratories, dairy shops, gasoline pumps, the Motorway Service Area, tyre repair shops, and takeaways will remain open.

The business community has expressed serious reservations about the Punjab government’s abrupt action and expressed resentment over the decision.

According to Mardan Ali Zaidi, Senior Vice President of the Super Grocery Stores Association in Lahore, 95 percent of shops have already closed due to the Eid holidays.

He claimed that only 5% of shops were open and that the government should not impose restrictions on businesses on the eve of Eid.
