The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the petition for a Rs7.96 per unit increase in electricity prices on June 27, 2022.
A hike in the power tariff has been requested as part of the monthly fuel price adjustment for May.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) stated in its petition that in May of this year, 8.80% of electricity was produced at a cost of Rs33.67 per unit from furnace oil.
During the month under review, 10% of electricity was generated from local gas, 22.89% from imported LNG, and 24.50% from hydel sources, according to the CPPA.
The petition also stated that the cost of reference for the aforementioned month had been set at Rs5.93 per unit.
