An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday approved bail applications for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders in the case of vandalizing public property and beating up policemen on the day of the party’s long march on Islamabad from May 25, until June 28, 2022.
The case was heard by ATC Judge Ijaz Ahmed Butar.
Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Murad Raas, Shafqat Mehmood, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, and Musarrat Jamshed Cheema were among those granted bail. Burhan Moazzam Malik Advocate filed the petitions on behalf of these leaders, against whom a FIR was lodged at the Bhatti Gate police station.
PTI leaders had previously been granted bail in cases registered at Gulberg and Shahdara police stations.
Later, in an interview with the media, Dr. Yasmin Rashid asked the government to continue booking her and other party leaders in one or more cases. “However, we will continue to obtain bail from the courts,” she added.
