Perhaps no one could have predicted that two bitter political opponents, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, would be in the same place at the same time, as they will most likely be today when both of these leaders will be at the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) premises at the same time; though for different reasons.
While Imran is scheduled to speak to the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) today, Maryam and her husband Captain (r) Safdar are scheduled to appear in court for the hearing of their Avenfield Reference appeals.
The case will be heard again today by a two-member bench of the IHC, consisting of Aamer Farooq and Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, while Maryam’s lawyer, Amjad Pervez, will continue his arguments.
The NAB prosecutor will begin his arguments after Advocate Pervez.
On the other hand, the PTI chairman will speak to the Bar in response to the latter’s invitation, which was extended to him via letter.
However, the district administration may find it difficult to deal with both of these leaders in court at the same time, as the PML-N vice president may be accompanied by her charged supporters, and the possibility of a clash cannot be ruled out.
