Dania Shah, Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s third wife, said she is in iddat from today, a day after the televangelist and PTI MNA’s sudden death.
Iddat is the period of time that a woman must observe after her husband dies or she divorces. A woman is not allowed to marry another man during this time.
Dania responded to those who criticized her on Instagram. “I am in iddat from today,” she wrote in one of her stories.
She bounced back at the social media users who were criticizing her and said that “people used to abuse Aamir like this and now that he is gone, they are crying.”
“Abuse [me] as much as you want. Aamir used to cry when people were abusive toward him, just like that, I will cry too,” wrote Dania.
Dania had claimed just a day before Hussain’s death that the couple was about to reconcile. Salma Begum, her mother, claimed the same.
Hussain was discovered unconscious at his home in Karachi’s Khudad Colony and was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition.
The PTI MNA, 50, was said to have experienced chest pain the night before but refused to go to the hospital. Hussain screamed in the morning, according to his employee Javed.
When the TV personality’s domestic staff did not receive a response, they broke down the door to his room. When he was rushed to the hospital, doctors said he had already died by the time he arrived.
