In response to mounting queries and concerns, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has moved to address the issue by confirming that individuals holding expired Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) will still be eligible to exercise their voting rights in the forthcoming elections.

The commission’s spokesperson reiterated that voters with expired CNICs would indeed be allowed to participate in the electoral process. However, it was emphasized that voters must present their original identification cards at the polling stations, with digital or copied versions being deemed insufficient for validation.

This clarification by the election authorities is aimed at ensuring the inclusion of hundreds of thousands of voters whose eligibility might have been called into question due to the expiration of their identity cards, thereby upholding the principle of electoral inclusivity.

Meanwhile, as the general elections draw near, political parties have wrapped up their campaign activities. With just one day remaining until the polls open, no further political rallies or gatherings are permitted under electoral regulations.
