Pakistan’s first e-Rozgar Center has been inaugurated in Islamabad. Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Umar Saif, unveiled the nation’s inaugural e-Rozgar Center on Tuesday.
Developed in collaboration with Excel Consulting Services, the center marks a pivotal milestone in providing vital infrastructure and support to freelancers nationwide.
Equipped with approximately 100 state-of-the-art workstations initially, the center is poised for exponential growth, with plans to expand its capacity to accommodate 300 freelancers shortly.
The momentous inauguration ceremony saw the presence of key dignitaries, including Additional Secretary of MoITT, Ayesha Moriani, and Member IT, Syed Junaid Imam, alongside officials from various government bodies and a throng of freelancers eager to witness the launch.
Addressing the audience, Minister Saif heralded the commencement of a nationwide initiative to establish 10,000 e-rozgar centers, setting the stage for a transformative era in Pakistan’s digital landscape.
With a commitment to empowering both seasoned freelancers and aspiring talents, Saif emphasized the significance of providing accessible platforms for independent work at competitive rates, thereby fulfilling a promise to the nation’s burgeoning freelance community.
Highlighting the amenities afforded by the center, Saif underscored the provision of essential resources, including high-speed internet connectivity, uninterrupted power supply, comprehensive training facilities, and tailored workspace solutions, including individual cabins and dedicated meeting rooms.
Additionally, special provisions have been made to support startup ventures, reflecting a holistic approach towards nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship within the freelance ecosystem.
Optimism permeated Saif’s remarks as he projected a substantial boost to Pakistan’s IT exports, setting an ambitious target of $10 billion annually upon the successful completion of the e-rozgar project.
Furthermore, he underscored the pivotal role of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) in providing technical assistance and guidance to freelancers utilizing these centers, thereby ensuring a seamless transition into the digital realm.
