Shahzad Akabar unharmed in acid attack in UK. In a shocking incident, Shahzad Akbar, former special assistant on accountability to ousted Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, revealed on Monday that he had fallen victim to an acid attack in the United Kingdom, where he has been residing in exile with his family.
Akbar, who served as a special aide during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, departed from Pakistan shortly after Prime Minister Imran Khan was removed from office through a no-confidence vote in April 2022. Since then, he has been living in exile in the UK.
Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Akbar detailed the harrowing attack, stating, “Last evening I was attacked at my address in England (where I am living in exile with my family) by unknown assailant/s who threw acidic liquid at me.”
Despite the assault, Akbar assured the public that his wife and children were unharmed. He acknowledged sustaining injuries but emphasized that they were not life-threatening. Swift action was taken by the local authorities, with police and emergency services responding promptly to the incident. Akbar reported that his residence is now under protection.
“I will not be intimidated nor bow down to those who are doing this,” declared Akbar in a statement, underscoring his determination to stand firm in the face of such violence.
Living in exile can present its own set of challenges, and incidents like these only add to the difficulties faced by individuals separated from their home country.
As Shahzad Akabar unharmed in acid attack in UK, the attack on Akbar highlights the need for a thorough investigation by authorities to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the violent act.
