More than ten hours after the incident, the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) rescued two of the eight persons dangling in mid-air – seven pupils and one instructor.
According to sources, the helicopter rescue attempt was terminated after rescuing the two lives owing to darkness and windy conditions.
However, the army is continuing its efforts to save civilians in various ways, according to the sources.

They also stated that a smaller cable car had been suspended on the same rope to fetch the remaining five pupils and a teacher.
According to Shariq Riaz Khattak, a rescue official at the scene, the open cable car became stranded halfway across a ravine and was dangling by a single wire after the other split.
He explained that the rescue effort is hindered by high gusts in the vicinity and the fact that the helicopter’s rotor blades risk further destabilizing the lift.
