Pakistan parliament is to be dissolved today.
Pakistan’s parliament is set to be dissolved today (Wednesday), three days before the end of its five-year term.
The last session of the parliament’s joint sitting will be held today at 5:30 p.m. There is also a two-point agenda for the joint session.
The agenda includes traditional Quran recitation, Naat-e-Rasool, and the national anthem.
As Pakistan parliament is to be dissolved today, the meeting will also discuss current national issues such as law and order, economic policy, Kashmir, and foreign policy.
Furthermore, the agenda includes the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and raising awareness about climate change in order to reach a consensus.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef is also expected to address the joint session, after announcing that he would submit a summary for the dissolution of the National Assembly to the president on Wednesday (today).
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on Tuesday that he would write to President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday (August 9) to request the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA).
“After completing our tenure, I will write and send the advice to President Alvi to dissolve the assembly and then an interim government will take over,” the prime minister said while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad.
Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician and businessman who is currently serving as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan, in office since 11 April 2022. He is the current president of the Pakistan Muslim League.
