US residents hoard rice at markets after India Bans export. On Thursday, July 20, India put a restriction on the export of non-Basmati white rice.

According to sources, the Ministry initiated this prohibition to moderate rice prices in the domestic market because India is the world’s biggest rice exporter.

Meanwhile, the restriction would have an impact on worldwide markets, causing prices to rise due to a lack of supply.

This is especially true for African and Southeast Asian countries, as well as our neighbors Pakistan and Bangladesh.
