Benjamin Mendy said he slept with 10,000 women. A jury heard that Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy raped a young woman and then told her, “It’s fine, I’ve had sex with 10,000 women.”
The 28-year-old is accused of assaulting the woman, who was 24 at the time, in October 2020 at his £4 million mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.
He is also accused of attempting to rape another woman, who was 29 at the time, and claimed he attacked her at his home two years before.
Both charges are denied by the footballer.

After a trial that ended in January this year, trial Judge Stephen Everett, the Recorder of Chester, informed the jury of six women and six men that the France international was found not guilty of sexual offenses alleged by other women.
He told jurors that the previous jury was unable to reach verdicts on the two charges they are hearing, rape and attempted rape, thus his re-trial on those two charges.
The judge warned them not to look up details from the previous trial or follow media coverage, and to base their decision on the evidence heard in court during the current trial.
Benjamin Aina KC, opening the trial, said: “Benjamin Mendy is a footballer who was under contract to Manchester City FC.
“He would have parties and social gatherings at his home, The Spinney, in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.
“He would have both male and female guests at his social gatherings.
“It is the prosecution case that on two occasions Mr Mendy took advantage of two of his female guests.
Mr. Aina stated that Mr. Mendy first met Woman A, a UK student, in a Barcelona nightclub in late 2017, and she became intimate with one of his friends.
They stayed in touch, and a year later she arranged to meet the accused’s friend at the footballer’s house, where they all stayed after a night out with other girls.
When she took a shower in the ensuite bathroom the next morning, Mr. Mendy appeared uninvited, wearing only boxer shorts, and he was “aroused,” according to the court.
The footballer is then accused of grabbing the woman and attempting to rape her on the bed as she struggled to free herself, despite her repeated requests to stop.
Two years later, woman B was out with friends at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, near Mr. Mendy’s house, when she was invited back.
She claims the accused took her phone, which contained “intimate” photos, and led her to his locked bedroom while she demanded her phone back.
Mr. Aina stated Mr. Mendy told her, “I just wanna look at you,” and told her to remove her clothes.
Mr. Mendy then threw her phone on the bed after Woman B complied by leaving her underwear on.
As she went to retrieve it, the footballer is accused of seizing her from behind and raping her, despite her protests.
Mr. Aina told the jury: “At this stage, Mr. Mendy took a step back and said ‘You’re too shy’.
“Mr Mendy said, ‘It’s fine. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women.”
The footballer told police on both occasions any sexual contact was consensual and denied any wrongdoing.
The trial continues.
