Malaysia captures PIA plane over non-payment of lease dues. Due to the non-payment of aircraft lease obligations, Malaysia has seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing-777 at the Kuala Lumpur Airport.

A local Malaysian court issued the order to seize the national carrier’s aircraft because $4 million was unpaid.

A PIA plane has been impounded in the same location twice. It used to be stopped from taking off after the passengers boarded the aircraft. To ensure payment of the debt and obtain approval for the flight, Pakistan used diplomatic channels at the time.

The PIA sent a second aircraft to Kuala Lumpur after the plane was impounded in order to transport the Pakistani crew and passengers who had been left stranded in Sri Lanka as a result of the incident.

A PIA spokesperson told the media that the Boeing 777 was PIA property and that the engine leasing company had lied to obtain the stay order. He claimed that the PIA had paid the debt.

As Malaysia captures a PIA plane over non-payment of lease dues, according to the spokesperson, the national carrier had requested that the Malaysian court take up the case.
