Pakistani authorities have unveiled a big data theft operation involving Android apps that specifically target government officials.
CERT’s warning
The National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued an advisory warning about suspicious applications available on the Google Play Store.
According to the advisory, these apps are designed to steal personal and financial data from users with their consent, as many unknowingly grant access to sensitive information.

The apps are found to be involved in stealing data from Pakistani officials. Users unintentionally grant permission for these apps to access sensitive data.
The advisory recommends users only install apps from trusted sources.
It is urged to install reputable antivirus and anti-malware software to prevent threats.
Users are advised to disable location services when not required and avoid using smartphones in sensitive environments.

The CERT has further warned that these types of apps pose serious risks to data security and has asked users to take immediate steps to protect their personal information.
