Lahore, Pakistan – CM Maryam inaugurates Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, inaugurated the Nawaz Sharif Information Technology (IT) City project in Lahore on Saturday.

This ambitious project is set to transform the region into a leading technological hub.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the foundation of the IT City was laid by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, with the first phase of the project completed in just two and a half months.

The IT City spans 853 acres and will enjoy a tax-free status for the next ten years, designed to attract significant investment and foster innovation.

The IT City project also includes the development of a Knowledge City and a Film City.

The Knowledge City will host campuses of various universities, providing state-of-the-art educational facilities.

This initiative aims to create a synergistic environment for learning and technological advancement, drawing interest from major IT companies globally.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s dedication to empowering the youth of Pakistan, comparing the potential IT revolution in Pakistan to that of India.

She questioned why Pakistan cannot achieve similar success, urging for a transformative approach in the country’s technological landscape.

Criticizing the current situation, she contrasted the previous government’s efforts, such as distributing laptops to students, with recent unrest.

She expressed discontent with the shift from educational initiatives to what she described as chaos and violence.

Affirming the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)’s commitment to fostering an IT revolution, Maryam Nawaz announced plans to provide free Wi-Fi throughout Punjab, including Lahore.

She reiterated the government’s goal to financially empower the youth through technological education and opportunities.

Concluding her address, the Chief Minister announced the revival of the laptop scheme for deserving students, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to advancing technological education and ensuring the youth are well-equipped for the future.
