Court issues detailed verdict in Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan.
In a significant development, the Accountability Court has issued a detailed verdict following the sentencing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, alongside his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 14 years in prison.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir released a 23-page document outlining the findings in the Toshakhana case.
The verdict declared Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi guilty of causing financial harm to the national treasury and engaging in fraudulent activities, resulting in financial benefits totaling Rs 1573.72 million.
A total of 16 witnesses testified in the Toshakhana case against the prominent political figures, revealing that they had received 108 gifts from foreign dignitaries. Notably, jewelry from Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman was among the gifts.
However, the court identified a specific gift reported in Toshakhana that was not submitted. Instead, it was allegedly retained by Khan and his wife against a payment of Rs 9 million, significantly less than its actual value of Rs 3.16 billion.

The consequences for the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi extend beyond imprisonment. In addition to the 14-year sentence, they face a ten-year disqualification from holding public office and a fine of Rs 1.573 billion, as per the court’s ruling.
The Toshakhana case has been a contentious issue in national politics, exacerbated by the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision last year to disqualify the PTI chief for providing false statements and incorrect declarations.
As Court issues detailed verdict in Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan, the PTI has announced its intention to challenge the decision against its founder and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case, setting the stage for further legal proceedings and political ramifications.
