Adiala Jail receives bomb threat from Afghanistan. The administration of Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi has been targeted by an anonymous caller claiming to be from Afghanistan.

The caller issued a chilling threat, warning of a bomb explosion within the prison facility within the next three days.

The alarming revelation was disclosed by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons in Rawalpindi in a letter addressed to the City Police Officer (CPO).

The call, received on January 30 at the official telephone number of Central Jail Rawalpindi, lacked a displayed phone number on the Caller Line Identification (CLI), adding an extra layer of mystery to the threat.

The letter emphasized the seriousness of the situation, citing a recent attempted attack on Mach jail on the same day, where five terrorists from a banned group were thwarted by vigilant security officials.

Central Jail Rawalpindi is of particular concern due to its status as a holding facility for a number of high-profile political prisoners, including figures like Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The prison also houses individuals associated with extremist and terrorist organizations, further heightening its security sensitivity.

As Adiala Jail receives bomb threat from Afghanistan, the DIG Jail urgently reached out to the CPO Rawalpindi, seeking immediate and stringent security measures at Adiala Jail to mitigate the potential risks and prevent any untoward incidents.
