In a candid interview, Lalit Pandit of the renowned music duo Jatin-Lalit has leveled serious accusations against fellow musicians Nadeem Akhtar Saifi and Shravan Kumar Rathod, collectively known as Nadeem-Shravan.

Pandit claimed that many beloved songs from the iconic 1990 musical film ‘Aashiqui,’ directed by Mahesh Bhatt, were actually plagiarized from Pakistani music.

Pandit reflected on the height of Nadeem-Shravan’s popularity, stating, “Nadeem-Shravan’s music was never our style.”

He revealed that Nadeem often traveled to Dubai, where he bought numerous Pakistani music cassettes, which were then reproduced in India.

“The entire industry knows this,” he asserted.

Expanding on his claims, Pandit stated, “Many of the songs in ‘Aashiqui’ are actually Pakistani tracks with new lyrics. Several songs!”

He highlighted the distinctive nature of Jatin-Lalit’s work, saying, “A composer’s music should reflect their unique style. If you listen to our music, it’s unmistakably Jatin-Lalit because we created everything ourselves.”

As Indian musician confesses ‘Aashiqui’ album was copied from Pakistani songs, the original ‘Aashiqui,’ starring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal, was a massive commercial success upon its release in 1990.

Its soundtrack became the best-selling Bollywood album of the year and is ranked fourth on the list of ‘100 Greatest Bollywood Soundtracks of All Time.’
