Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood granted bail in May 9 riots case. In a significant legal development, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and his close associate, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, have been granted bail in connection with the May 9 riots case.

This decision came after Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Malik Ijaz heard the case and instructed both accused individuals to provide surety bonds worth Rs1lac each.

Imran Khan’s bail approval now extends to a total of 12 cases about the unrest that unfolded on May 9.

Meanwhile, the court also granted bail to Sheikh Rasheed, a prominent figure from the Awami Muslim League, in a case involving the alleged attack on a sensitive installation’s gate on the same day.

Rasheed’s bail petition was accepted following the court’s directive for him to submit surety bonds valued at Rs200,000.

Following the submission of the required bonds, the court ordered authorities to release Sheikh Rasheed from custody, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the May 9 incidents.
